Tips to help you clean your house before Christmas

Tips to help you clean your house before Christmas

The festive season is in full swing and many people are already rushing to buy decorations and everything they need for Christmas. Before you rush to decorate, it’s a good idea to clean your home. Not only is that a great way to ensure you don’t clutter up your home, it also keeps it clean for incoming visitors and house guests. Here are a few tips to you help clean before Christmas:

Declutter your house

I know that I have said this multiple times but, decluttering is the only effective way to kick-start any cleaning job. The last thing you want is to hang decorations on accumulated junk. Furthermore, decluttering helps you eliminate any potentially hazardous things developing in your house.

Deep clean your carpets

If you plan on having a lot of guests over at your house during the Christmas holiday, it is very important to clean your carpets beforehand. Carpets can accumulate a lot of dirt over time and while vacuuming regularly helps to prevent the surface buildup of dirt, it doesn’t necessarily leave them fresh and well-cleaned. My advice would be to invest in a steamer or to call a professional cleaning company that specializes in cleaning carpets to handle the job.

Clean your kitchen

Perhaps the busiest place in your house during Christmas time is your kitchen. At any given point in time, someone will be preparing a meal and if you have guests over, you will likely have a lot of helpers running around in your kitchen. Because of this, you want to ensure that you clean every cabinet, drawer and surface in the kitchen before Christmas rolls around. Also, remember to clean out your fridge to make space for fresh ingredients and leftover.

Clean all the silver, plates and dishes you will need

As I mentioned earlier, Christmas time is a busy time for a lot of people and if family dinners are on the menu, you will need a lot of dishes, plates, silver and glasses. Now would be the perfect time to take out your special utensils and give them a nice and thorough wash before you use them. It would be more efficient if you use a dishwasher, but soap and water should be sufficed.

Cleaning before Christmas can be a bit stressful but if you follow the above tips, things should move quite smoothly.
